Oikos Bible ("we", "us") is a free, open-source Bible study and discipleship app. We respect your privacy and collect only what is needed to run the app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information — If you create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed password. You can also use the app without an account.
Profile information — A display name you choose, and an optional profile photo you take or select from your device. The photo is uploaded only when you add it, and you can remove it at any time.
Content you create — Highlights, notes, bookmarks, prayers, reading progress, groups, and the people and discipleship notes you add are stored so we can sync them to your account across your devices.
AI assistant queries — When you use the AI study assistant, the text of your question and the relevant Scripture context are processed to generate a response. We do not use your questions to build advertising profiles.
Technical data — Basic technical information (such as app version and error logs) may be processed to keep the service secure and reliable.
How we use your information
To provide the app — Reading, study, prayer, discipleship tracking, groups, and syncing your data across devices.
To improve reliability — Diagnosing errors and maintaining security.
To communicate — Sending you account-related messages, such as email verification or password resets.
What we do NOT do
No selling of data — We never sell your personal information.
No advertising — The app contains no third-party advertising and no ad tracking.
Third-party services
To operate the app we rely on a small number of service providers, which may process data on our behalf, including a Bible-text provider for translations, an AI provider for the study assistant, and our own self-hosted infrastructure for accounts and content storage. These providers process data only to deliver their function.
Data retention and your rights
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time. To delete your account and associated data, email us at info@oikosbible.com from your account address.
Children
Oikos Bible is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
